TORRE DO TEMPO


A ideia da TORRE DO TEMPO nasceu do projecto ALMA, da Câmara Municipal de Fronteira, sendo implementado pela EVOL, e tem como objectivo apoiar iniciativas que promovam o artesanato português e o trabalho realizado pelos artesãos, para além de dinamizar a relação entre o meio rural e o meio urbano e incentivar o desenvolvimento de regiões outrora esquecidas. Actualmente, a TORRE DO TEMPO dedica-se à área abrangida pelo Alto Alentejo construindo diariamente uma relação de confiança baseada nos saberes-fazer locais aliados a uma forte vontade de desenvolver novas ideias e experiências com as gentes locais.

Como elo entre a tradição e a inovação no Design, é um dos objectivos da TORRE DO TEMPO estimular a criação de novos conceitos em torno das técnicas tradicionais presentes na região e a exposição e comercialização das experiência daqui adquiridas, tendo como síntese deste processo, os produtos daí resultantes que se mantêm orgulhosamente fieis às matérias-primas e aos “ingredientes” e auxiliares que lhes reforçam a sua identidade e genuinidade.

Pretende-se também que a TORRE DO TEMPO seja um espaço de opinião e debate acerca de todas as questões em torno na manufactura, indústrias manufactureiras, design sustentável….

The idea of TORRE DO TEMPO (tower of time) was born from the ALMA project, from the Câmara Municipal de Fronteira, being developed by EVOL with a big goal to support initiatives that promote the craft and the Portuguese work done by craftsmen, in addition to create a dynamic relationship between the rural and urban environment and encourage the development of areas once forgotten. Currently, the TORRE DO TEMPO covers the area of the Alto Alentejo daily building a relationship of trust based on local know-how combined with a strong desire to develop new ideas and experiences with local people.


As a link between tradition and innovation in design, the goal of TORRE DO TEMPO is to stimulate the creation of new concepts around the traditional techniques in the region and exposure and marketing the experience earned here. As a summary of this process, the resulting products remain proudly and faithfully connected to the raw materials and to other “ingredients” that give strength to their identity and authenticity.


It is also intended for the TORRE DO TEMPO to be a space of opinion and debate about all issues surrounding the manufacturing, manufacturing industries, sustainable design and so on…
